What we do

Everything your business
needs, under one roof

From the filings you are obliged to make to the planning that decides where the business goes next. Take one service, take all of them, or start with whatever is most urgent.

Filing & Compliance

Filing & Compliance

01

Confirmation Statement Filing

Your annual Companies House filing, prepared and submitted on time.

Every UK limited company and LLP must file a confirmation statement at least once a year. It is not a set of accounts and not a tax return — it simply confirms that what Companies House holds about your company is still correct. It is easy to forget, because nothing prompts you until it is late, and a company that stops filing can eventually be struck off the register.

  • Statement prepared and filed with Companies House
  • Registered details reviewed first — address, officers, SIC codes
  • Shareholdings and share capital confirmed or updated
  • People with Significant Control register checked against what is filed
  • Deadline tracked year on year, so you are never the one remembering
02

VAT Return Filing

Quarterly returns under Making Tax Digital, on the scheme that suits you.

VAT is the tax businesses most often get wrong, and rarely through carelessness — the rules on what is standard-rated, zero-rated and exempt are genuinely fiddly. Errors are expensive in both directions: reclaim too much and you repay it with penalties, reclaim too little and you have handed HMRC money you were entitled to keep.

  • Quarterly VAT returns prepared and submitted
  • Making Tax Digital compliant filing, straight from your software
  • Transaction coding reviewed, so errors are caught before they repeat
  • Registration when you cross the threshold, or voluntarily where it helps
  • Scheme review — standard, flat rate, cash accounting or annual accounting
03

Directors' Self-Assessment

Your personal tax return as a director, available on its own.

Company directors usually need to file a personal tax return covering salary, dividends and any other income. We can handle it as a standalone service, whether or not we do anything else for your company — useful if your company accountant does not cover personal returns, or if you would rather keep the two separate.

  • Personal tax return prepared and filed with HMRC
  • Salary, dividends, benefits in kind and other income brought together
  • Reliefs and allowances applied — pensions, gift aid, expenses
  • Your liability calculated and confirmed well before the payment date
  • Payments on account explained, so January holds no surprises
04

Dormant Account Filing

A company that has not traded still has to file. We keep it simple.

A dormant company — one holding a name, paused between ventures, or wound down but not closed — still owes Companies House dormant accounts and a confirmation statement each year, and usually a notification to HMRC. It is a small job, but skipping it leads to penalties and eventually to the company being struck off.

  • Dormant accounts prepared and filed with Companies House
  • Confirmation statement filed alongside them
  • HMRC notified of dormant status where appropriate
  • A check that the company genuinely qualifies as dormant — the definition is stricter than most people assume

Company Services

Company Services

05

Company Formation

Incorporation done properly, with the share structure right from day one.

Forming a company takes minutes on a budget website. Forming it correctly takes a conversation first — about who owns what, in what proportions, and what happens when that needs to change. Fixing an unsuitable share structure later is considerably more work than setting it up properly at the start.

  • Incorporation with Companies House
  • Share structure and classes set up to suit the actual ownership
  • Statutory registers you are required to keep from day one
  • Registered office and correspondence addresses arranged
  • PAYE, VAT and corporation tax registrations where you need them
  • A conversation first about whether a limited company is even the right vehicle for you
06

ID Verification Service

Companies House identity verification for directors and PSCs.

Companies House now requires directors and people with significant control to verify their identity, as part of wider measures to improve the reliability of the register. It can be done directly with Companies House or through an authorised agent. We can carry it out for you — and if your circumstances make doing it yourself simpler, we will say so.

  • Identity verification for directors and people with significant control
  • Guidance on which documents are acceptable before you start
  • Verification handled for multiple officers of the same company together
  • Confirmation recorded and kept with your company records
07

Accountant's Letter

Reference letters for lenders, landlords and brokers.

Mortgage lenders, landlords and finance providers routinely ask an accountant to confirm your income or trading history — and they usually ask at short notice, in a specific form of words. We prepare the letter to the wording the lender has actually requested, which avoids the round trip of having it rejected and rewritten.

  • Income and trading history confirmed for mortgage and loan applications
  • Letters for landlords and letting agents
  • Certificates confirming self-employment or directorship
  • Written to the requesting party’s own wording wherever they have supplied it
  • Turned around quickly, because these are almost always urgent

Bookkeeping & Payroll

Bookkeeping & Payroll

08

Payroll & RTI Submission

Payroll run on time, with RTI and pensions handled for you.

Payroll is the one thing in a business that cannot be late — people plan their lives around it, and HMRC penalises errors on an unsympathetic schedule. Every pay run needs a Real Time Information submission on or before the payment date, and auto-enrolment duties have to be assessed for each employee, every period.

  • Weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly or monthly pay runs
  • RTI submissions to HMRC on or before each pay date
  • Payslips distributed securely to your staff
  • Auto-enrolment assessment and pension submissions
  • Starters, leavers and P45s handled
  • Statutory sick, maternity, paternity and adoption pay calculated correctly
  • Year-end returns, P60s and P11D benefits reporting
09

Handling of Payables & Receivables

Supplier bills and customer invoices tracked, chased and reconciled.

Most small business cash flow problems are not profitability problems — they are timing problems. Invoices go out late, nobody chases them, and supplier bills get paid earlier than they need to be. Keeping both sides organised is often worth more to a business than any tax saving.

  • Sales invoices raised and sent on schedule
  • Outstanding debts monitored and chased, politely and persistently
  • Supplier bills recorded, scheduled and reconciled
  • Aged debtor and creditor reporting, so you can see what is actually owed
  • Payment runs prepared for your approval

Xero Services

Xero set up, subscribed and maintained — or we work with what you have.

Good cloud accounting software makes everything downstream easier: bookkeeping, VAT, Making Tax Digital, and knowing where you stand mid-month rather than months later. We set Xero up properly, handle the subscription, and keep the chart of accounts and bank feeds in working order.

  • Xero set up with a chart of accounts that suits your business
  • Subscription managed on your behalf
  • Bank feeds connected and kept running
  • Migration from spreadsheets or another package, with history brought across
  • Training for you and your team, pitched at whoever actually uses it
  • Already on QuickBooks, FreeAgent or Sage? We work with those too — we will not move you for the sake of it

Planning & Advisory

Planning & Advisory

11

Tax Planning Throughout the Year

Planning while the year is open, when decisions can still change the outcome.

There is a difference between filing a tax return and planning your tax. Filing tells you what happened; planning changes what happens next. Most of the decisions that matter — how you draw income, when you buy equipment, what to do about a disposal — have to be made before the year ends. Once it closes, the options narrow sharply.

  • Position reviewed through the year, not once at the end of it
  • Profit extraction — the salary and dividend balance for your circumstances
  • Capital allowances on equipment and vehicles
  • Corporation tax planning and the CT600 return
  • Capital Gains planning on property and business disposals
  • Your liability estimated early, so it is never a January surprise
  • Mainstream, well-evidenced planning only — no marketed avoidance schemes
12

IR35 Review & Assessment

Status reviews for contractors and the businesses engaging them.

The off-payroll working rules decide whether a contractor is genuinely in business on their own account or is, for tax purposes, an employee. Getting it wrong is expensive, and the answer depends as much on how the work is actually carried out as on what the contract says.

  • Contract review against the off-payroll working rules
  • Working practices assessed — often more decisive than the contract wording
  • Written status opinion you can keep on file as evidence of reasonable care
  • Support for end clients making status determinations
  • Guidance on what to change where an engagement looks borderline
13

Business Planning

Budgets, forecasts and a written plan you can actually use.

Should you take on that hire? Can the business afford the premises? Is now the moment to raise finance, or to hold? These have defensible answers once there is a forecast in front of you, and mostly guesswork without one. The value is not the spreadsheet — it is the conversation about what it is telling you.

  • Annual budgets built with you, not handed to you
  • Rolling twelve-month cash flow forecasts, updated as reality moves
  • Scenario modelling — what a hire, a price change or losing a client actually does
  • Figures and projections for lenders, and help preparing the application
  • Profit improvement reviews covering margin and pricing, not just cost
  • Exit and succession planning, started early enough to matter

Why together

The services feed each other

Firms often buy these piecemeal — bookkeeping from one place, payroll from another, tax advice from whoever answers the phone in January. It works, but it wastes a lot of the value.

When one firm holds all of it, the bookkeeping feeds the tax planning automatically. The payroll data feeds the cash flow forecast. The forecast tells you whether you can afford the hire before you make it. Nobody re-keys anything, and nothing falls between two providers who each assumed the other was handling it.

That said, we are happy to take on a single service. Plenty of clients start with the thing that is hurting and expand later.
